As is the case in so many professions, the legal fraternity is comprised of generalists and specialists amongst the ‘lawyers’ we generally recognise in legal firms (other than barristers).

Before we refer clients to any of these specialists, we usually prefer to communicate with lawyers in existing relationships with the client to investigate whether their competence in the area of interest is such that a referral is not necessary.
